Client Contract

The work that I do with you and all that you tell me is strictly confidential.  I keep all notes protected and secured.  I take my work to supervision, which is also confidential.

Fees are £60 per session.  They are payable in cash or by cheque at the beginning of each session and receipts are available. Fees paid by standing order or bank transfer or in a block are discounted. Fees are reviewed annually and any increases are made in January.

I charge for cancelled sessions.  If you have to cancel for any reason, including illness, please telephone me to let me know.

I conduct therapy in weekly 50 minute sessions. I allow 60 minutes so that there is time for business, getting a drink and using the toilet and so on. (Sometimes it may be appropriate to come twice a week.)  I usually take my holidays at the same time as schools.

Booked holidays are not counted as cancelled sessions.  Please inform me of booked holidays at least one month in advance.

I require four sessions notice of an intention to finish therapy.  (I recommend that if you have been in long term psychotherapy that you allow longer.)

I adhere to the ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy  (BACP), the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the ethics of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI).

I am accredited both as a counsellor and supervisor with the BACP (Senior Accredited) and as a psychotherapist with the UKCP. I have a diploma in Person-Centred Counselling (SPTI) and a post-graduate diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy (SPTI).  I have completed a diploma course in clinical supervision and an MA in Humanistic Psychotherapy.  I have undergone several years of personal psychotherapy.  I have been working as a counsellor, psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer since 1990.

The outcome of therapy is directly affected by client motivation and commitment to the therapeutic alliance. This includes regular, punctual attendance and attention to the contract. I do always want to know how you are experiencing therapy so I can respond to you. I appreciate your willingness to feedback about the process.
