Psychotherapy with Miriam Granthier
"We can't stop the waves coming in but we can learn to swim."
Miriam Granthier
Therapy is not about stopping your feelings but about gaining a confidence in your ability to work with your feelings.
By exploring your issues with a trained listener who will not judge you, in a safe and confidential environment, you can learn to understand yourself and your feelings and gain an ability to cope with your feelings.
Many clients find that by understanding themselves they can unlock their potential and find personal power to make positive life changes and lead a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
You can call Miriam to arrange a personal assessment session where you can discuss in complete confidence the issues you bring to therapy. Together the two of you will decide on a suitable approach and discuss how you might work together to achieve what you want from therapy.
Specific issues, job change, bereavement, relationship problems are likely to be suitable for a short course of counselling. Chronic or complex problems like issues from childhood, multiple loss, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and long term depression are more likely to involve personal change and therefore will take longer.
Following the assessment you may choose to book a course of personal therapy or to join her ongoing psychotherapy group. There is also an option of reduced fee therapy with one of our apprentice associates who will be studying counselling or therapy but not yet fully qualified (see About Us).
The outcome of therapy is directly affected by client motivation.
If you feel ready to take a step towards personal change this is the best time to move forward. If you find a therapist you can work with and trust and if you have a hope that you can get better, the outcomes are likely to be good.
Blue Skies always encourages clients to find a therapist who is right for them. We will be able to recommend other therapists if you want to see 2 or 3 different therapists for assessment before you begin therapy. It is most important to us that you find the RIGHT therapist for you and it doesn't have to be us.
